In 2017, the University of Stirling conducted a study in football players using Smartfish Recharge High Protein (HP) after forced injury. This study has now been published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, 2018, 28, 26-36 (e-publishing ahead of journal: https://doi.org/10.1123/ijsnem.2017-0161. )
The study consisted of three (3) treatment groups, one receiving Smartfish HP (FO in figure below), one group receiving the same drink, but without fish oil (PRO in figure) and a third group receiving an isocaloric placebo (CHO in figure). The players were treated for six (6) weeks with the drinks before physiological markers of recovery was measured over three days following eccentric exercise. In conclusion, the treatment with Smartfish HP reduces muscle soreness and improves blood concentrations of creatine kinase following eccentric exercise in competitive soccer players.
